on this little blog, to share & encourage…so here we go!
this room was originally a formal living room used formally by the previous owners of the house 🙂
we’re not really a formal family so it was mainly the room that held the tools & paint
(or misc. craft projects:) while we renovated the rest of the house…
hubby made this huge 8’x4′ island from scratch 🙂 with my dad…
i wanted to have a place to lay out yardage (and a place to have craft night with the girls ♥)
it also makes for a lot of storage underneath…
big baskets with yarn, batting, and projects in the works…
my idea for the island is to write out some sections from Prov.31 over the entire top
these shelves are the plain white cheapies from Target, that we got super cheapie during back to school/college time…the crown molding (top and in between each shelf to hide the seams) & arches were added then painted all gray
just a few close-ups of supplies ♥
old mason jars i found at a rummage sale in an old church last summer…
i ♥ rummage sales in old churches
this little birdcage houses vintage pillowcases ♥
yellow spray paint + lace trim + a little birdie = cuteness ♥
…an old nails & screws organizer sorts embroidery floss…
simple boxes covered in brown paper
strips of fabric ruffled on my sewing machine got hot glued on each bin…
these are all still in need of labels so i remember what’s where …
my stash ♥ i can’t wait to dive into these and make stuff 🙂
(that cute little printable banner is from ♥here)
…this side of the room is where i sew 🙂 hubby built the shelves and table…
the larger bins on top hold patterns, notions and some other things…
these too should be labeled, or maybe numbered?
table skirt was made from a shower curtain from TJ Maxx
a cornice over the window is in the same print
& fabric measuring tape on the edge (then covered with lotsa coats of polyurethane)
thread storage from an old typesetting box
i could do a whole separate post for all the inspiration!
if you scoot over to my pinterest boards, you’ll see the “studio” board
with most of the ideas i applied in my space, i bet you can pick out a bunch of ’em 🙂
so my to do list for this room still has a few things on it
1. stencil & finish table top
2. label & number bins
3. put some cute stuff on the light fixtures
4. make covers for sewing machine & serger
…but it’s all fun stuff!
i’m also dreaming about what to put in my little etsy shop…
i want to fill it to the brim with lots of Sugar n’ Spice ♥
you can see how empty is it by clicking on the the link in the sidebar 😦
i have a ton of ideas rolling around in my head! just want to choose the best ones…
that’s my little world of crafting goodness ♥
hope you like it! come back and make stuff with me 🙂

You find a family in a country events that you want to visit and who requires someone to look after their kids. For a pre-agreed number of hours during the week you take care of the children in return for a bedroom, food and some cash. Depending on the country you may pocket $150 – $200 (USD). It is a fantastic way to experience not only the sites of another country but also the culture of the family you live with.

I have been looking at so many different craft rooms and the table your husband built for crafting is BEAUTIFUL and exactly what I am looking for. Your entire room is beautiful but I am honed in on the table because I have been searching and searching for ideas and when I saw this I screamed a little (OK, a lot!) Were you ever able to recreate the plans? I, too, would be willing to pay. Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful ideas. I am a new follower for sure!!!

Hi,an idea for your window; why not buy frosted plastic film and “glue” on the window. it comes in various patterns and in some colors. Easy to use and apply to the window – it is also removable if you want to change it later. let's the light in, but prevents people from seeing everything in the room.

I have the talented husband, huge island/now craft table, bookshelves for everything, desk, sewing table, kids table, and fabric oh don't go there. Now I found my answers most of your items that you store things in can be for Lil or a lot ribbons or stamps just love it going to print out and plaster all over my walls for inspiration!! Who would ever get bored in that adorable, very colorful craft room? You mentioned that your DH built you that table where your sewing machine is on..think you could get him to do a tuitorial on how he did that. I'd like one like that to use as a computer desk and I would put shelves on the wall above the table. Would find some way to make a beautiful talbe cover like you did. That is so clever! Love how you have all your ribbons and yarn stored in glass jars..so visible..Did your DH make the table that is in middle of room? that is unique also. I think he's a keeper!

You are very, very fortunate to have the manpower (a one-in-a-million talented, skilled, and supportive hubby), creativity (your own special power!), an unused naturally-lit room which is a luxury indeed, and most of all — the resources to make your dream room a reality. My favorite touches, though, are ones that didn't cost much at all: the birdcage with the vintage pillowcases that remind me of my collection of 1940s aprons, the tabletop with the pattern and tape measure sealed into the surface, and the quilt hoops with the retro fabrics. Talented lady!!

LOVE this room! Where did you find the pans for the 3 tier stand? And what did you use in the middle of them to keep them together? I want to make something just like that for my daughters desk.

I FINALLY got my tins in the mail from Etsy bc derned if I could find the sizes I wanted! So there's the problem with ordering online. Ummm, they're smaller than I was picturing… Well we'll see how they turn out. The pans are really cute, but my candlesticks might be a tad big for the pans. I saw it on Pinterest too!

2 yrs. late to the party but still MUST comment as someone working on a space & studying many others, yours is tops in my book, PLUS your blog name gets me EVERY time. Bravo! I know you are loving it & so many others obviously did. Just had to give my praise as it brought me so much joy on an otherwise bad day! Thank you.

The whole room is delicious! I especially like the middle “island” table – huge and SO useful! I would just kill for a large room like that. I'm fortunate to have a small “study” in front of the house, but I'm crammed in there and have to do all my cutting on the smallish kitchen island down the hall. Someday soon we will be retired and that perfect little house we eventually move to can be small, but has to have ONE BIG ROOM for my sewing. Thanks for the inspiration.

Hello Jamie, I LOVE your room! Sooo inspirational (and thanks for, “interacting” with your readers here!). Would you mind sharing what color yellow spray paint you used? I've looked everywhere for a bright yellow color and can't find one I like! Thank you sooo much!

LOVE your craft room! So happy and cheerful. And I can see alot of ideas I can use in my own room. Question? How did you attach the skirt to the sewing machine table? I've had the fabric to make a skirt for my table for a while but haven't made it yet because I'm stuck on how to adhere it??? Thanks!

I love your craft room. I live in a 1500 square foot home with no dedicated space for a craft room. I work in my garage a lot but it gets waaay to hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. We do have a small formal dining room that I use only for the holidays. I have decided to make it into a craft room – dining room combo so it needs to be pretty. I found your post on a google search for inspiration. I am pinning your room to my Pinterest account. Love all the cute touches!
