sidewalk chalk neighbor gift idea & free printable

I’m hoping that this little project might lift your spirits
during this really weird/sad/crazy time like it did mine today ♥

it started a few days ago with a box of sidewalk chalk …

i saw everyone on social media talking about how they were using chalk to decorate their sidewalks with uplifting messages or just pretty pictures since families and neighbors are out in huge numbers everyday walking and enjoying any spring-like weather just to pass the time and get out of the house… and anyone who lives in our neighborhood knows that people are ALWAYS outside – quarantine or not – we have so many little kids, dog owners and runners/walkers in our one mile huge loop of a neighborhood – so our neighborhood is usually pretty active even during normal circumstances…

so i picked up a box at target (while i was getting essentials … everyone just please relax … please – slight eyeroll here) because i knew that it would put a smile on at least a few faces who walked over our sidewalk over the next few days (and then it rained of course – hello, upstate NY + April) so i recruited my girls to go chalk up the sidewalk & make it pretty ♥
we got out there and the sun was shining, within a few minutes it was like my spirits were automatically renewed just by being outside, for an hour, breathing in God’s fresh air and soaking up His sunshine …

it got me to thinking about how we can watch the news, talk to neighbors and overhear things in the grocery store check out line that the enemy then uses to ever so quietly & slooooowly crack the door open, allowing fear to creep into our minds & hearts … right?  we start to let ourselves be dominated by the what if’s and the maybe’s
that give life to fear & self-reliance …

but then all of a sudden being outside in the wide open of God’s creation … you realize that there is nothing to fear. He made all of this. the sun will rise in the morning and set again tomorrow night, virus or not, quarantine or not, constant barrage of fear-mongering news broadcasts or not … because He is in control – He’s got this – this didn’t catch Him by surprise – it didn’t sneak up on Him like whoa where’d you come from kinda thing – this was all sifted through His hands.

He’s behind & before us – His thoughts are higher – our names are graven on His hands – He knew what we looked like even before we were thought into existence …
so i’m thinkin’ He’s got this too.

as we were chalking up a storm the idea came to get a few more boxes of chalk for some of the houses with little kids on our street – in hopes that they would decorate their sidewalks too and then what a fun walk around the neighborhood that would be for everyone 🙂

surprisingly but kinda not (insert another small eyeroll here)
like flour toilet paper and chicken breast (that’s what’s hard to get here at our grocery store what about you all?) sidewalk chalk is really hard to find online – and again not surprisingly, sellers on amazon are trying to sell this 48ct. box of chalk for $40!

so i scoured the interwebs and found that my local staples & walgreens stores had quite a few boxes left in stock and they were offering curb-side pickup! bonus. so check your local office supply stores, drug stores, targets or walmart’s – buy online and pick up – i’m sure you’ll be able to find some!

and of course i had to make a cute tag for these neighbor gifts (that in all honesty me & my daughter ding dong ditched ((or just ditched without the ding or the dong)) at each of the houses and then made quick getaways afterwards:P) there’s just something about giving gifts in secret – am i right?

i love leaving something, catching someone off guard and letting it be found in the quiet of their own thoughts & emotions – i know in times past i’ve found something that has brought me to tears and i thought how did someone know this was just what i needed?

so! dive into those ribbon stashes, tie some bows onto those cardboard box handles and

super cute graphics were from these two etsy shops
and so at the end of today, we had successfully delivered 6 boxes of chalk up and down our street and when my daughter went out to ride her bike in the afternoon she came back so excited to tell me that all the little kids that we had delivered chalk to, had decorated or were out decorating their sidewalks with the cutest pictures and notes ♥ and some of them had even come to the front of our house and written a note in chalk thanking us for the gift 🙂

and just like that a small thing like a box of chalk brought so much joy to our house and now neighborhood
AND had lifted my spirit more than any other thing had done this past week.
(even more than when i found a six pack of TP at the grocery store 🙂
find some chalk, print out these tags & let this do the same for you this week friends!
as always – much love

mailcarrier appreciation day – free printable

February 4th is national thank your mailcarrier day!
i couldn’t let the day pass without acknowledging it
since so much of what i do – being a small online shop owner – depends on the mail!

that last one is circa 2014!
when i first launched the stitching the states kits – crazy stuff.
cut to size and attach to candy, cookies, or even a gift card for a cup of coffee,
then leave it in your mailbox with the little flag up.
one simple little kindness can completely change someone’s day – in this case your mailcarrier’s!

happy national thank your mailcarrier day friends! xo

2018 daily tracker – free printable

happy new year everyone!
and the new year means new goals & fresh starts for everyone
so i thought i’d share a little printable i made to keep a visual reminder
of the habits i’m trying to make stick!

every year i tell myself that i’m going to read my bible through by the end of the year and every year i drop the ball somewhere – whether i’m weeks or months in, i somehow lose track and just revert to my usual quiet time of journaling or reading certain passages that are outlined in my current devo…

last year i stumbled onto this daily reading bible at my local christain bookstore
and fell in love with it ♥ the One Year Bible Expressions is on amazon here
it’s different in the fact that it’s sectioned off into 365 daily readings with chapters from the old & new testament, one chapter of psalms & a short passage from proverbs.

it has wide margins for bible journaling and some of the pages have pre-drawn pictures for you to color – if you’re new to bible journaling just do a quick search on pinterest and you’ll be inspired!

most of the pens and pencils i use in my bible are whats pictured here in the post
sometimes plain old colored pencils

black skinny sharpies are my go-to everyday pen and the bonus for bible use
is that they don’t bleed through the thin pages

and check out this inside cover!
i started filling it in with colored pencils last year and have yet to finish …

i carved out a dedicated space/desk area in my craft room for all my bible journaling/reading supplies
but i rarely use it … the kitchen table or tucked in bed is usually where i end up 🙂

if you’re trying to start and stick with a new habit this year –
and color in the days as you go along throughout 2018
whether it’s reading your bible, journaling, exercising or eating healthy remember!
don’t strive for perfection – just strive for progress ♥

if you download & print or share pictures on instagram
be sure to tag me so i can see your progress!
and share some of your goals with me in comments below
i’d love to know what you’re up to in 2018!
much love ♥

happy September ♥ and a free mini printable calendar

i just keep saying this all the time, but why are these years flying by so fast?
summer is coming to a close, school starts next week for us
and we’re entering the high school phase of life. crazy.

if you follow me on the insta you know that i’ve been using the project life app to “scrapbook” our photos and memories. you can find out more about what it is here & here

i’m hooked on using the app …  it’s so simple and it’s done right from your phone, in bed, while watching Netflix. it’s great. you can print your pages right from the app now, and they’re sent right to your mailbox – the quality is AMAZING and the price is so reasonable!
the two layouts above are last weeks compilation of pictures and things we did. i’m trying have a 2 page layout (12×12) for each week and if there’s an extra event or more pictures, i just go ahead and do more pages. SO fun. slide them into the page protectors and you’re done. love it.

another character necklace & keychain sale is scheduled for September 13th @8pm eastern over at my insta-shop account (@shopraisinguprubies)
i’ll have lots of new characters … shop now for Christmas stockings!

soccer season has begun!

and i’ve been slowly working on re-purposing everything in this room
every year things change in here and purging and re-organizing is helpful
keeps things running a bit more smoothly 🙂

cute pineapple print is from my friend Lindsay here
if you sign up for her monthly newsletter you’ll receive a freebie every new month

when i first started blogging they were little #sad
now they’re big kids

(BACKTOSCHOOL25) for 25% off your purchase
and this new teacher gift set, globe planner clip & artwork from Pen & Paint, is a new addition to the shop!

happy shopping! and don’t forget to download this month’s free mini calendar here

illustrated faith ♥ and a cute little idea

for the past few months i’ve been a part of a design team for Illustrated Faith, so fun…
i contribute printable goodies to cut and paste into your journaling bibles
there’s a bunch of us girls who design and release new pages at the beginning of each month
here are a few of the downloads that you’ll find in the print and pray shop

i was thinking i needed a cute little storage solution for all these pretty little pieces
so i decided to corral them all into a mini 4×4 project life binder

i found these at joanns and the little page protectors too in the project life section ♥

side note – i love project life guys … did you know there’s an app now?!
yup, you can document your pictures and memories right from your phone
so your kids don’t grow up to be jpeg’s.
(bonus:: you can do it while you’re in bed perusing the insta or watching netflix
snuggled up to your hubby who’s watching football and playing boom beach
yeah… there’s that)

so i put all the cut-outs in each of the mini protectors and organized them by set
but you could stick them in there any which way

project life also has 6×8, 8×8 and 12×12 binders too if you needed more space or had bigger printables to store, or even larger pieces of pretty paper maybe?

i also found this medium sized pencil pouch at michaels

the mini binder and a few other bible journaling must-haves fit nicely inside
perfect for on the go right?!

take it to church with you or even to craft night … maybe to the coffee shop
where do you do your bible journaling?

just a little tuesday afternoon inspiration for ya ♥
if you want more bible journaling info, or are in need of some ideas head illustratedfaith.com
you’ll be hooked!

much love

happy August ♥ and a new mini printable calendar

July was so good to us ♥
it was full of vacation
camp and lots & lots of ice cream stops!
we got to go out for the day on a friends boat … and tubing!
kids love it! me not so much. i’m chicken 🙂

my older daughter is going to high school this fall. so crazy…
my little is still holding on to being a kid
somedays she’s so grown up and i’m sad
but other mornings i walk into her room and find this
her crumpled up messy bed, legos, superhero girls and remenants of Jesus time
oh my heart ♥

as much as i DON’T like NY in the winter
i really love it the rest of the year
we’ve had a super dry summer, it usually rains quite a bit here so it’s been a nice change of pace

with zuchinnis growing like crazy in the garden and a tennager who likes to bake
the mixer is always on in the kitchen
snickerdoodles were on this day’s agenda
i just kinda felt like my cuppa tea needed a cookie.

i just got a new happy planner so i’ve been cutting out the printable stickers from her shop at night during tv time. it’s so relaxing and so much happy to see them all in this little sticker binder!

my husband and i celebrated 17 years at the end of July
17 roses were waiting for me at home
it’s his signature thing … roses 🙂
marriage is hard. but it’s beautiful isn’t it?

hope you’re having the most wonderful summer ♥
we still have almost 5 weeks left before school starts
so pool time, hot dog eating and sleeping in is still going strong!

my youngest is not so young anymore, she’s growing up. new glasses and all.

still not done though. are you ever really done? there’s always something that needs updating, fixing or purging. it’s a never ending process

my youngest outgrew her heffalump room (she still loves her lumpy)
it was fun having her be old enough to have input, and really help choose what we did with her room

going back to my roots with fabric tape that will be sold again in my etsy shop soon!
just a little sneak peek here 🙂

my mom taught me to have a tidy, welcoming, comfortable home
she always goes above and beyond when company comes over

April was good to us, but i’m looking forward to warmer weather and looking out my studio window at my neighbors beautiful trees bursting with flower blooms … it’s a gorgeous sight … i’ll try to remember to get some pictures for next month’s sum up

much love ♥
