pretty diy ♥ up~cycled dishrack

i’m super duper excited about the Better Homes & Gardens shoot this week 🙂
and i’ve been super duper busy shopping for some new clothes, making paper flowers, spray painting stuff and putting a few finishing touches on my craft room …
{and cleaning my house}

so i thought i’d sneak in a quick project that i did last week
using some more of Keren’s beautiful digital art!

if you’re stopping over from FPTFY … welcome!

i was inspired by a few pictures i saw on Pinterest of old dishracks turned into neat little organizers for holding file folders, pens & pencils … i spray painted a thrifted dish rack white and covered the utensil holder with some strips i cut from a vintage sheet
i made my file folders out of chipboard {but any manila folders will do} and used the bicycle image from Keren’s shop to embellish the folder that would be in front 🙂 fun!

washi tape and a sharpie … all you need to label the folders
if you’re like me {and change your mind a lot} they’re easy to remove & replace when you need to reassign the folder

it’s a great project when you can take something you aren’t using anymore and turn it into something that has a new & fresh purpose … and that’s cute to boot 🙂

much love to you all this week ♥
hopefully i’ll be back Monday with a bunch of fun stuff to share!
happy crafting …

trash to treasure … decoupaged trinket box ♥

Hi!
It’s me!
hope you all had a wonderful 4th ♥

my girls have been at summer camp this week that’s put on through their school
tons of fun they’re havin’ 🙂

i’ve mentioned before (i think)
that i love garage sales
i don’t just love them
i luuuuuuuuurve them
when it’s summer time i see no need for Target to even be open
’cause it’s garage sale season

and what i love most is finding something that looks like it’s beyond it’s years of use
and turning it into something usable, and something you love!
so i’ve been doing a lot of that lately
taking old things and making them new ♥

it started out like this…
lotsa potential 🙂

a little Mod Podge and some pretty paper … i had a hard time narrowing down the choices!

it holds all the little tags and scraps for the shop…
i love how it helps keep even the small things organized

this vintage 3M tape dispenser was not from a garage sale, but was my grandpa’s 🙂
he was a wonderful artist, he worked most of his life painting and making signs…
he was very talented
i could kick myself for forgetting to take a before picture
it was dirty & rusty in some spots … nothing a nice coat of spray paing couldn’t fix
i added some pretty paper to each side for some print
i love that i have something from his studio, now in mine ♥

speaking of the shop…
i’m getting super close to being ready to open!
and this is what sat in my front foyer a couple days ago…

shipping & packaging supplies for Sugar ‘n Spice
seriously guys…
i did a little happy dance
with the front door open
it actually felt official 🙂
any good trash to treasure finds? please share!

much love ♥

some label love … ♥

happy Tuesday! ♥
this is the last week of school for my girls
we can’t wait ’till summer vacation officially starts!
i see all these neat ideas on Pinterest for summer fun … then … i forget
 outta sight…outta mind
🙂
this way all those ideas are in one spot…quick & easy access
the girls & i are really excited about some of them!

so now that the shades in my craft space are done, let’s label, label, label stuff!
then i can check another to-do off the list 🙂

for the small canvas bins, i found these brackets at Joanns
…from Tim Holtz (i love the vintage look of his stuff)

a little spray paint and presto…pretty
the little brads come in the package… they push right through the canvas and hold the hardware quite nicely 🙂

wow! doesn’t it make a big difference?
(well, ok to me it does cause i stare at these a lot)

for the little blue baskets I used mini chalkboards (from Joanns too 🙂
and a clothespin to clip them on ~ i use chalkboard markers like these
(spruce up your clothespins with a little paper &  Mod Podge!)

painted wooden numbers on the large canvas bins were sewn on
with a large tapestry needle and some chunky yarn

all done ♥

a couple other ideas…
i wanted to show you what’s lives on the top of my island

these are the supplies & tools that get the most use
i wanted to make them easily accessible when i’m working on different projects

the big white bowl in the middle is for garbage

tea cups, mason jars & copper jello molds are great for all the little things ♥

i’m still learning to think outside the box for storage or organization ideas…
sometimes when you mix & match things together, it makes it all the more your own
… i found all of the pedestal dished at garage sales ♥
no more than a one or two dollars each 🙂

thanks for stopping by!
with gladness in my ♥
some sweet parties ♥ …
